Carnation Transit Access – Taskar Center
Building Better Transit Access for Carnation
This page shares interactive tools and stories from the Transportation Data Exchange Initiative (TDEI), now focused on helping Carnation residents and Mayor Adair Hawkins advocate for stronger transit connections to nearby urban centers, community services and beyond. Listen to the narrations, view transcripts, and explore how you can participate.
Why Transit Access Matters in Carnation
For Carnation residents, reaching jobs, schools, or healthcare in Bellevue or Redmond can take more than two hours by bus—compared to 25 minutes by car. Limited frequency, long waits, and gaps in sidewalks make transit feel out of reach.
The Taskar Center for Accessible Technology works with communities like Carnation to collect stories and data about these challenges. This local knowledge helps make the case for better routes, safer walking conditions, and reliable transit options.
Every story shared here becomes part of the statewide OS-CONNECT sidewalk and access dataset, ensuring that Carnation’s voice is heard in planning and funding decisions.
