TCAT at the 50th Washington State Public Transportation Conference: Statewide Sidewalk Data! An Overview of OS-CONNECT

August 12, 2026

Dr. Anat Caspi of the Taskar Center for Accessible Technology will join Thomas Craig and Mary DuBose of the Washington State Department of Transportation for “Statewide Sidewalk Data! An Overview of OS-CONNECT” at the 50th Washington State Public Transportation Conference.

Developed since 2023 by the University of Washington with guidance from WSDOT and other advisors, OS-CONNECT provides statewide sidewalk data that transit agencies can use to understand and visualize pedestrian access in their communities.

The session will introduce the goals of OS-CONNECT and explain how agencies can access, use, and contribute to the data. Presenters will discuss applications including bus stop planning, accessibility audits, public-facing maps, ArcGIS, scripting, and TDEI tools.

The session will also cover statewide data consistency, open and interoperable data, WSDOT’s role as a community partner and data steward, and ways transit agencies can participate as users, advocates, community members, and data stewards.

Presenters:

Thomas Craig, WSDOT Public Transportation Division

Mary DuBose, Washington State Department of Transportation

Dr. Anat Caspi, Taskar Center for Accessible Technology, University of Washington
