The Taskar Center for Accessible Technology participated in The New York Public Library’s Accessible Technology Conference 2025 with the presentation “From Sidewalks to Systems: Building Equitable Access Through Community-Led Technology.”
The presentation explored how accessibility can be built into public technology from the beginning rather than added later. It highlighted how community-led tools and accessible pedestrian data can help make mobility barriers visible, turn lived experience into useful information, and support more equitable planning and public decisions.
The session connected TCAT’s work to a broader goal: creating open, inclusive systems that help communities and public agencies improve access to everyday destinations.
