We're thrilled to invite you to the Ben Taskar Memorial Distinguished Lecture and Annual Accessibility Event- join us on January 25, 2024 at 12 PM for a full day of programming, concluding with a talk presented by Drago Anguelov, Vice President and Head of Research at Waymo!
Drago joined Waymo in 2018 to lead the Research team, which focuses on pushing the state of the art in autonomous driving using machine learning. Earlier in his career he spent eight years at Google; first working on 3D vision and pose estimation for StreetView, and later leading a research team which developed computer vision systems for annotating Google Photos. The team also invented popular methods such as the Inception neural network architecture, and the SSD detector, which helped win the Imagenet 2014 Classification and Detection challenges. Prior to joining Waymo, Drago led the 3D Perception team at Zoox.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Community Townhall Meeting with Dragomir Anguelov (this session will not be recorded and not available to remote participants) Join us for a captivating discussion with Dragomir Anguelov as he shares Waymo's insights into operating an autonomous ride-share fleet, covering over 7 million miles. The session, moderated by Anat Caspi, focuses on responsible AI in transportation.

2:15 PM - 3:00 PM: Spotlight on AccessMap Multimodal Discover the latest advancements in accessible transportation with a spotlight on the recent deployment of AccessMap Multimodal. The session will highlight the personalized trip planner for travelers with disabilities and provide insights into the user experience, including the use of screen readers.
3:30 PM - 4:45 PM: Ben Taskar Memorial Distinguished Lecture by Dragomir Anguelov We are honored to present this year's Ben Taskar Memorial Distinguished Lecture featuring Dragomir Anguelov, Vice President and Head of Research at Waymo. Drago's extensive career includes leading the Research team at Waymo, where he focuses on pushing the state of the art in autonomous driving using machine learning.
4:45 PM - 5:30 PM: Reception Following the Distinguished Lecture, join us for a reception where you can network with fellow attendees and speakers, fostering connections and discussions.
